    Part 2? When??
A great story Chris! keep it coming!

  2. Jeri O'Barr says:

Thank you Chris for your honest and unbiased report on this event. I am not a challenger, but my husband was. I felt EXACTLY the way you described in that riders meeting! Dazed and CONFUSED! I still am. It is hard for me to believe that we got involved with this event. I am extremely thankful that my husband, coin #49 arrived in Homer, safe and sound. He did lose his friend Chuck Lynn on the ride. That was a devastating blow.

What I don’t understand is that no one wants to step up and call FOUL! So, according to the organizers and the “winner” the money was paid. So what? If in fact the money was paid, that is the only thing the organizers did. Well…let’s not forget about the water brought into his adopted cousins house (that is another whole story).

Chris, I believe that you are a brave man of honor and integrity. I know that many others must have felt the same way in that meeting, yet, no one has had the courage to share it. Thank you,

A confusing start to a confusing ride. I enjoyed reading about your experience and look forward to more! All the best…

  4. Terry Plisch says:

Great story. Can’t wait to read more. I hope you have included items like directions given and wether they were right or confusing! Thanks, Terry.

Great story Chris, thanks for sharing!

That “event” is indeed unbelievable on many many aspects. To me, what remains is all of you guys who finished that crazy race given the conditions you had to ride, and the confusing start with an evident lack of organization/coordination/safety …

I’m glad you’re telling your part of the story and that people finally get to have an “insider” point of view since it was so challenging to get real updates during the race from official sources (namely the “organizers”/pranksters …)

Cheers mate! Can’t wait to read the next part once you’re done with the current races/challenges you’re involved in ;)

  6. Brian Smith says:

    Chris,

This is a captivating story. It sounds nothing like our last ride together, which was VERY organized, coordinated, planned, escorted and safe. You were a big part of the success and fun of the ride. Thanks.
So, it sounds like – and is pretty obvious that this ride was a challenge on several fronts (as if riding from the Florida Keys to Homer, Alaska is not)! Keep the story coming, please! Tell it like it is and we will enjoy it thoroughly.

    Brian
