Chris said he was able to get a brand new tire, so he should be good for a while. He thanks all you for looking out for him.

Day 6
Thanks to all of you for your concern and support Chris was able to get a used tire from WY. After a brief interview with the Hoka Hey organization and the newspaper, Chris was once again on his way to the next check point: Montana Harley-Davidson.
Great idea to have a new tire sent overnight to the next stop. There is not telling how long that one will last. Will let you guys know. Stand by.
Between 6pm to 6:30 pm: it appears that Chris is not moving, not to worry, him and one of his riding partners got separated, Chris is just waiting on him at a gas station so they can get back on the road going the right direction.

Day 5
It appears that some riders have been disqualified for not following the map and arriving in WY sooner than expected. Some have questioned the routes Chris has taken so far and his motives. All I can tell you is that Chris has mentioned having difficulties following the map and getting lost. I know for a fact that Chris is not trying to cheat (being his wife). His intentions are to finish top 10 or 20 and to show off the brand new XR1200X. Being an adventure junky, he would have done it even if there was no prize to win.
Chris does not have a chase vehicle, in fact he is in desperate need of a tire. The heat has caused excessive wear and damage to his rear tire, the threads are now showing after 3,800 miles. He will be lucky to make it to WY, and even when he gets there, he is not sure they will have the tire.

Day 4 and 5
Day 4: It seems as though Chris and DJ have been ridding in AZ for ever. With rumors or facts that some riders are already in Colorado, and watching these guys going away from Wyoming, a lot of questions have been raised. According to Chris, they are following the map. They are suppose to ride through several Indian reservations, and they are not even suppose to go through Colorado at all. Last night, while they slept for 4-5 hours, a lot of riders caught up with them. A lot of them are exhausted and have been pushing themselves pretty hard and they are even half way through the challenge.
Day 5: Chris is well rested and in good spirit. He is ready for another long hot day…

Day 3 and 4
Sorry about the misinformation given last night. Chris has not reached the 3rd check point yet. He is still “hauling ass”. Yesterday was a 22 hour ride. He was able to sleep for about 4-5 hours (“froze his ass off”). 8:15am: Taos New Mexico. Between 1st and 3rd place.
To Cheri: While in Key West, Chris and I met two characters: Craig and Randy. Craig told us the story about the moose in the backyard. I thought you’d like to see his picture. Chris wants to know how they are doing and where they are.

Day 2
Second check point: Harley-Davidson in Southaven MS. Chris arrived around 7:30pm in 25th place. After a couple hours of rest, he is now headed to Flaming Gorge H-D in Rock Springs WY, a 1360 mile trip turned into 2700 miles according to his new map.

Day 1
The race started this morning at 6:15. There was no assigned position. First come, first served. Chris decided to positioned himself at the end of the pack. First check point: Bruce Rossmeyers’ Harley-Davidson in Daytona. However, as anticipated and explained by the organizers, the riders will have to follow a specific map given at every check point, using very few express ways, more backroads and several detours before getting to the check points.
12:30pm, Chris called from the Everglades, Fl. He stated that he witnessed 5 crashes within the first 5 hours, riders were turning around going 80 miles/hr, not quite sure where they were going. They first seem to be going north, then they had to ride back South, to then head to Daytona.
5:58pm, Chris finally reached the first check point, where he was given a coin showing 8th position, and a new map of the second check point: Southaven, MS.
Having technical problems with his satellite tracking device…will add a link to it as soon as possible. Thx
